ANDSEA Global is collaborating with local entities in Kenya on community development projects since 2019. We collaborate to promote the sustainable development of communities through social investment, resource mobilization, endowment building and grant making facilitation.

Community development where community members are supported to identify and take collective action on issues which are important to them. Community development empowers community members and creates stronger and more connected communities.

Our community development focus is a holistic approach grounded on principles of empowerment, human rights, inclusion, social justice, self-determination and collective action. It is a community development which considers community members to be experts in their lives and communities, and values community knowledge and wisdom. Community development programs are led by community members at every stage – from deciding on issues to selecting and implementing actions, and evaluation. We believe that community development has an explicit focus on the redistribution of power to address the causes of inequality and disadvantage.

 

Areas of focus

• Health & Wellness

We support health and disability friendly services in collaboration with community disability organizations and groups, clinics, public hospitals and dispensaries

• Rehabilitation of substance abusers

Drug abuse and the temptation is a global problem. We have counseled, mentored and  rehabilitated 177 substance abusers in Kenya since 2018. The challenge is huge and requires a holistic and conscious approach.

• Water, Sanitation & Hygiene

We strive to provide access to water for hundreds of people in dry areas in Homa Bay County, Kenya. Lack of access to water aggravates poor sanitation and hygiene in rural homes and rural town settlements.

• Technical education

The unemployment situation is high and the only way out is to equip young adults and youths with technical skills and know-how to be self dependent and creative. 

• Technological support

The world is rotating around technology and so there is every reason for us to help the villages and rural communities with basic technological adoption. Technology path in simple, practical terms.

• Forestry and Agricultural livelihoods

Environmental conservation and gradation is key in boosting agricultural production. Most local communities are either small-scale or large-scale farmers and we are positioned to support the livelihood activities around agriculture and forestry.
